The SDGs Advisory Unit - Mandate and Evolution\u200b<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Established in 2017, the President\u2019s Advisory Unit on the SDGs (known simply as the SDGs Advisory Unit) is charged with providing technical, policy, and strategic support to the president in his leadership of the SDGs process in Ghana and on the world state. \u00a0<\/p>

To carry out its mandate effectively, the Unit has formed strategic partnerships with key institutions in and out of government. \u00a0\u00a0This has resulted in several initiatives, including public education, to foster greater awareness about the SDGs and its role\u2019s in Ghana\u2019s national development agenda. \u00a0The ultimate objective is to create a more informed and engaged society ready to embrace the challenges of sustainable development.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Core Functions and Strategic Approach<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Unit executes its mandate through a focus on the\u00a03 Ps<\/strong>:<\/p>

  1. Public Education:<\/strong>\u00a0Driving nationwide awareness and understanding of the SDGs and their relevance to national development.<\/li>
  2. Policy, Analytics and Outreach:<\/strong>\u00a0Informing SDGs implementation with data-driven policy advice and strategic communications.<\/li>
  3. Partnerships and Programming:<\/strong>\u00a0Building and managing multi-stakeholder alliances to accelerate action on the Goals.<\/li><\/ol>

    To deliver on this, the Unit\u2019s work is organised into four key streams:<\/p>

    1. Providing Strategic Policy Advice:<\/strong>\u00a0Offering evidence-based analysis and recommendations on SDGs implementation to the President, ensuring Ghana\u2019s positions on global and continental forums (e.g., the AU\u2019s Agenda 2063) are coherent and impactful.<\/li>
    2. Facilitating High-Impact Partnerships:<\/strong>\u00a0Orchestrating the President\u2019s strategic engagement with bilateral and multilateral institutions, the private sector, and civil society to mobilise resources and align efforts with Ghana\u2019s national development priorities.<\/li>
    3. Championing Innovation and Data:<\/strong>\u00a0Promoting cutting-edge solutions and smart technologies for SDGs implementation. This includes identifying best practices and advocating for robust data systems to track commitments and measure results transparently.<\/li>
    4. Leveraging Global Leadership for National Development:<\/strong>\u00a0Utilising Ghana\u2019s influential voice on the world stage to attract investment, share knowledge, and forge partnerships that directly benefit SDGs acceleration domestically.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      Current Institutional Roles<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      The Unit continues to serve as the secretariat for the\u00a0High-Level Ministerial Committee on the SDGs<\/strong>, providing the technical backbone for cross-governmental coordination and strategic oversight.<\/p>

      Its role has expanded to provide technical backstopping for the President\u2019s other significant international commitments, including engagements with:<\/p>
